Adelaide Fringe 2012

Another Year. Another Fringe. Another Fringe poster design and theme. This years design was created by local Adelaide artist, and my old University lecturer, Sue Ninham and features a series of quirky watercolour monsters, originally created for a SALA exhibition in 2010.

“The Monsters exhibition featured a collection of quirky characters, abstract in form but with definite monster-like traits,” Sue reveals.

“I am not certain how they emerged, but they continue to turn up from time to time. The characters in my Fringe poster submission are my monsters.”

In addition to Sue, there are numerous other University of South Australia and Argon Design connections that have been involved in the creative side of the Adelaide Fringe. Illustration lecturer and teacher David Blaiklock won in 2009, while previous Bachelor of Visual Communication (DBVC) students both took the gong in 2008 and 2006.

The majority of the Argon team has been through this particular course and we are extremely thankful for the creative and industry lessons that it has taught us moving forward into our professional lives.

In any case get out and enjoy the Fringe – and the sun – while it lasts and see what the Festival State capital has to offer.
